Trespassing, vandalism incidents cause church to lock its doors

Just days ago, Sacred Heart Church in St. Marys was outfitted with its first ever set of locks. The church will now be locked each evening following incidents of trespassing and vandalism.
“From the time I was transferred here 14.5 years ago, I was very proud of the fact that Sacred Heart Church never had to lock its church doors at night. I am sad to say that we cannot do that anymore,” stated the Rev. Fr. Eric Vogt in the church’s Sunday bulletin. “The threat of vandalism and criminal trespass has made this decision for us. It is a sad state of affairs when God’s house is no longer treated with respect and dignity.”
