Cancer has a major impact on society across the world and because of that local residents have come together to help those battling the disease.
Proceeds from the fourth annual Let Your Bow Glow 5k run/walk will assist local families struck by cancer by providing financial assistance to arranging transportation to appointments as well as encourage further research for a cure.
This year's event, set for Friday, Sept. 29, promises to be the best yet, with a 5K walk/run, multiple vendors, entertainment, drawings and plenty of family-friendly fun.
Once again the event will take place at the St. Marys Eagles Club on Trout Run Road in St. Marys.
Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with registration, music by JM Williamson and Adam Correll, food vendors, children's activities, and a merchandise tent. The touching sky lantern ceremony is at 7 p.m.
The Light Up the Night run/walk begins at 7:30 p.m.
The band Moonshine Outlaws will perform at 8 p.m. inside the Eagles club. At 10 p.m. Livewire, an AC/DC tribute band, will take to the stage. Both band performances are open to the public. The event concludes at 2 a.m.
Online registration is available at
Pre-registration is available until the day of the event with walk-up registration also accepted, however only a limited number of t-shirts will be available after the Sept. 11 t-shirt guarantee deadline. Pre-registrants can pick up their shirts Sept. 26-28 from 5-8 p.m. at the Eagles Club.
