William J. MacDonald, 80, of 238 Monterey Avenue, Ridgway, died at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 19, 2013 following a lengthy illness.
He was born February 5, 1932 in Ridgway, a son of the late Maurice and Mary Kielocker MacDonald.
On April 24, 1965 in St. Leo's Church, he married Filomena "Dolly" Magrini MacDonald, who survives.
He was a graduate of Ridgway High School. He retired from E&G Auto Parts after many years of service.
Mr. MacDonald was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, K. of C., the American Legion and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren,
He was a veteran of the Korean War, having serving in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his wife of more than 47 years, Filomena "Dolly" Magrini MacDonald, he is survived by three daughters, Molly, Mrs. John Cerroni of Ridgway, Lucy, Mrs. David Bobby of Ridgway, and Grace, Mrs. Andrew Messineo of Ridgway; a son, Sam MacDonald and his wife Michele of Ridgway; 25 grandchildren, Olivia, John Paul, Catherine, Sam, Mary, Laney and Ben Cerroni, Luke, Matt, Grace, Charlie and Steven Bobby, Joseph, Rena, Edward, Frank, Anthony, Max and Patrick Messineo, Percy, Moe, Veronica, Aaron and Penelope MacDonald; one baby grandchild; six sisters, Helen Powell of St. Marys, Grace Gregory of St. Marys, Margie Robinson of Ridgway, Ann Kennedy of Ridgway, Marianne Drathman of Ridgway, and Ruth Krizan and her husband Bill of Pittsburgh; four brothers, Neal MacDonald of Clearï¬eld, Joseph MacDonald of Ridgway, Edward MacDonald and his wife Evelyn of Ridgway, and James MacDonald and his wife Judy of Ridgway; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John MacDonald.
A Mass of Christian Burial for William J. MacDonald will be celebrated at St Leo Magnus Catholic Church, Ridgway, on Tuesday, January 22 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Brian Vossler, Pastor, as celebrant.
A Military Service will be accorded by the Ridgway Burial Detail.
Burial will be in the St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Thompson Funeral Home, 136 Center Street, Ridgway on Monday evening from 5-8 p.m.
