William "Bill" Shaner

William "Bill" Shaner, 77, of River Road, Weedville, died on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013 at DRMC after a yearlong illness.
He was born June 16, 1936 in Altoona, son of the late Charles and Thelma (Barnett) Shaner.
On Aug. 2, 1975 he married Pennie (Rosenhoover) and she survives.
Born and raised in Altoona, he lived several years in Emporium and has been a resident of Bennetts Valley since 1973. He graduated high school in Altoona and served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-59. He was a retired truck driver, last working with Clearfield Cheese. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, George E. Wagner Lodge of F&AM, Coudersport Consistory, Bennetts Valley American Legion, and the Shriners.
In addition to his wife, Pennie (Rosenhoover) Shaner of Weedville, he is survived by a daughter, Theresa (Terry) Sackett of Altoona; a son, Jeff Shaner of Connecticut; a stepdaughter, Karen Schwentner of State College; and a brother, Robert (Wendy) Shaner of Altoona.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Colleen McGill; and a brother, Charles Shaner.
A Mass of Christian Burial for William "Bill" Shaner will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Force with Father Thomas Tyler officiating.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield on Friday, Dec. 27 from 5-8 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 28, from 8:30-9:30 a.m.
The family suggests memorials to the Bennetts Valley Ambulance.
