Ulmar L. Fritz

Ulmar L. Fritz, 98, of 147 Straub Ave., St. Marys, died peacefully at his residence on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013.
He was born Jan. 25, 1915 in St. Marys, son of the late Henry J. and Elizabeth Jacob Fritz. On Feb. 17, 1938, in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Frances E. Holland and she preceded him in death on May 24, 2009.
Mr. Fritz was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1933. He was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Corp., retiring in 1978 after 45 years of service. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, the Quarter Century Club of the Stackpole Corp., a member of the K of C, Elks, St. Vincent DePaul Society and had served as mayor of St. Marys from 1981-1989.
He is survived by four daughters; Frances Cunningham of Warren, Ann Wortman and her husband Gervase of Warren, Laura Hunkele and her husband Edward of Elmira, NY and Jean Bacon and her husband Matthew of Fairview; three sons, Bruce Fritz and his wife Nancy of Westport, Conn., Colonel Gregory Fritz (Ret.) of Woodbridge, Va. and Andrew Fritz and his wife Lisa of York; 28 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Captain David Fritz on July 8, 1975; by three sisters, Olivia Fritz, Leona Ford and Veronica DePanfilis; and by seven brothers, Zeno Fritz, Oswald Fritz, Alto Fritz, Henry Fritz, Quintin Fritz and two brothers in infancy. He was the last member of his immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ulmar L. Fritz will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
