Congressman Glenn "GT' Thompson visited with area students recently during a multi-school tour where they discussed various topics. Elk County Catholic High School student government participants had the opportunity to interact with Thompson as part of a question and answer session which yielded discussion on current events.
Elk County Catholic School System President Sam MacDonald greeted Thompson and his staff member Deborah Pontzer, an economic development and workforce specialist based out of Ridgway.
Following a brief tour of the school, Thompson gathered with the small group of students inside the chapel where he gave a brief speech about how and why he became involved in politics, his political career, religious beliefs, the obstacles he has overcome and the importance of having faith.
Throughout his appearance Thompson interacted openly with the students, welcoming their questions and comments and joined them afterwards for a school lunch.
