Synthetic drugs bursting onto scene in Pa.

Photo submitted Brandon Rice, a 14-year-old Westmoreland County boy who in 2011 died from lung damage caused by smoking synthetic marijuana was one of the cautionary tales shared by Elaine Surma of the Pa. Attorney General's Office in a presentation to area residents in Ridgway Tuesday. Surma said these "fake" drugs pose real dangers.

RIDGWAY – An agent with the Pa. Attorney General's Office spoke to area residents Tuesday about the dangers associated with three new synthetic forms of traditional drugs including marijuana, amphetamine and heroin.
