St. Marys Legion blanks Kane 12-0 Tuesday

The St. Marys Legion baseball team ran their record to 11-1 on the season as they defeated the Kane Legion by a 12-0 score in five innings Tuesday night at Kane.
St. Marys returns to action this evening when they play host to the Wilcox Legion at 7:30 p.m. at Berwind Park. Wilcox and Fox Township will complete Saturday’s suspended game beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Berwind Park. Fox and Wilcox were tied 11-11 going into the eighth inning.
In last night’s game, St. Marys had 19 hits. Ryan Uhl had a triple and a double. Ricky Pearsall had a double and two singles. Jordan Weinzierl and Mitchell Meyer each had three singles. Jake Cortina had a double and a single, while Nate Geist and Anthony Grimone each had two singles. Kevin Hoy and Luke Daghir each singled.
Kane was limited to three hits in the contest.
St. Marys scored three times in the top half of the first inning as Pearsall led off with a single. With one out, Hoy singled. Uhl was hit by a pitch. A single by Weinzierl scored Pearsall and Hoy. Eric Wehler reached base on an error, allowing Uhl to score as St. Marys led 3-0. Kane went down in order in their half of the inning.
With one out in the top of the second inning, Pearsall doubled. Geist singled, scoring Pearsall. With two outs, Uhl doubled, scoring Geist to give St. Marys a 5-0 lead. With one out in the home half of the inning, Keesler singled, Williams walked and Burdick singled. They were left stranded.
Grimone led off the top of the third with a single. Meyer singled with one out. With two outs, Geist singled, scoring Grimone as St. Marys led 6-0. Kane left two men on base in the home half of the inning as Swanson walked and Hanes singled.
Uhl led off the top of the fourth with a triple. A single by Weinzierl scored Uhl. Weinzierl stole second and reached third. Wehler walked and stole second. A single by Luke Daghir scored both Weinzierl and Wehler. A double by Cortina sent Daghir to third. A single by Meyer scored Daghir. Pearsall singled, scoring both Cortina and Meyer as St. Marys took a 12-0 lead. Kane went in order in the home half of the inning.
St. Marys left the bases loaded in the top of the fifth inning, while Kane left one man on base in their half of the inning as St. Marys recorded the 12-0 win.
