St. Marys Area High School students are preparing for their participation in the DECA 67th Annual State Career Development Conference taking place Feb. 21-23 at the Hershey Lodge.
The DECA organization prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
Fifty students earned their spots to states by finishing in the top spots of their specific category event at the district competition held Dec. 20 at Pitt-Bradford where 105 students competed from Bradford, McDowell, Warren Vo-Tech, DuBois, Ridgway and St. Marys.
Students placing in first though fourth at the state competition qualify to advance to the 72nd Annual International Career Development Conference April 21-24 in Atlanta, Georgia.
The club is lead by officers Tait Bish, Kayla McMackin, Tori Paropacic, Jacob Mosier and Kyle Gardner. Gardner was elected the 2018-2019 DECA District 1 Representative for the state by the schools in attendance at the district competition.
