Simons shoots 76 at PIAA State Tournament

Darren Simons of Elk County Catholic High School fired a five-over-par round of 76 in the opening round of the PIAA State Golf Tournament at the Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York. Darren fired a three over 39 on the front side and a two over 37 on the back side on Monday.
Simons is currently tied for 18th place, six strokes out of the lead held by J. D. Dornes of Manheim Township with a one under 70. Three players are tied for second: Brandon Dalinka of Council Rock North, Bo Lustig of Belle Vernon and Brett Rinker of Slippery Rock, who all fired an even-par round of 71. Two players are tied for fifth place with scores of one over 72.
Five players are tied for seventh place with 73, while three are tied for 12th, and three for 15th with scores of 74. Three other players are tied with Simons for 18th place with 76s.
