Sharon E. Jerko

Sharon E. Jerko, 79, of 135 Laurel Lane, Kersey, died Sunday morning, Nov. 21, 2010 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She was born July 15, 1931 in Hallton, daughter of the late George and Geraldine Dobson Zimmerman.
On Aug. 20, 1955, in St. Leo's Church, Ridgway, she married George R. Jerko, who survives.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Ridgway High School, Class of 1950. She was a member of the St. Boniface Church and the church choir, member of the Elk County Cursillo Movement, Fox Township Senior Citizens and was a volunteer at the Guardian Angels Center.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Dr. Christine Jerko Ph.D. of Portland, Oregon; two sons, George R. Jerko Jr. of Bellefonte and Gregory S. Jerko and his wife, Cheryl of St. Marys; two grandsons, Mitchell Jerko and Matthew Jerko; and a brother, Jerry Zimmerman and his wife, Mary Ann of Kersey.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Jerko in 1990; and three brothers, William Zimmerman, Robert Zimmerman and Emerson Zimmerman.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass for Sharon E. Jerko to be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. James Faluszczak, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials, if desired, can be made to the St. Boniface Church or School, 355 Main St., Kersey, PA 15846; or to the Guardian Angels Center, P. O. Box 116, Kersey, PA 15846.
The Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home in St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.
