School board procedures questioned

August 8, 2014

Board practices were questioned during a recent St. Marys Area School District Board of Directors work session.
Board member Bert Sorg said he believes the board needs to hold its executive session during a meeting then report back about what actions were taken and why.
"If something is discussed in executive session that I don't agree with, I don't have the opportunity then to say anything publicly or otherwise or does any other board member," Sorg said.
It is the practice of the board to adjourn a regular meeting and after the public leaves, go into an executive session.
