School board falls short on hiring superintendent

May 29, 2014

The search for a new St. Marys Area School District superintendent continues as a vote to hire a replacement for outgoing Superintendent Ann Kearney came up short during a special board of directors meeting held Thursday evening.
"Obviously we're still in search for a new superintendent," said Bob Luchini, SMASD school board president.
The proposed candidate was Dr. Kandace Williams, former elementary education director of the Reading School District where she was hired in September 2012 with a salary of $95,000, conditioned upon her attaining her certification in Pennsylvania within a year.
