Ruth M. Baumgratz

Ruth M. Baumgratz, 82, of 521 Church St., St. Marys, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 at her residence after a lengthy illness.
She was born Sept. 21, 1930, in Dunkirk, N.Y., daughter of the late Albert and Sophia Wojcinski Griswold. On Sept. 25, 1954 in Dunkirk, N.Y. she married Carl F. "Harry" Baumgratz; who survives.
She was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Class of 1948, and resided in St. Marys since 1952. She was a former employee of Stackpole Carbon Co., and Berman's & BJ's Apparel.
Mrs. Baumgratz was a member of the St. Mary's Church, the Altar Society, C.D. of A., the St. Marys American Legion Post #103 Auxiliary, and was the recipient of the American Legion Auxiliary award in 1999. She also was a member of the Rural Letter Carrier Auxiliary and she delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. She enjoyed being a mom and was good at it. She enjoyed bingo, volunteer work, cooking and especially her family.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by a daughter, Marcia Oskorus [Dennis] of Ridgway; five sons, Carl M. Baumgratz Jr. [Cheryl] of St. Marys, Mark D. Baumgratz [Diane] of St. Marys, Kevin A. Baumgratz of St. Marys, James T. Baumgratz and his fianceé Lynn Anderson of St. Marys, and David A. Baumgratz [Charlene] of St. Marys; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joan Kaus [Norbert] of Annandale, Va.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth M. Baumgratz will be celebrated in the St. Mary's Church on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Meinrad Lawson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
