Rose Mary “Rosie” Brunner

Rose Mary “Rosie” Brunner, 90, a resident of St. John’s Specialty Care Center in Mars for the past five months and formerly of 301 Erie Ave. and Silver Creek Terrace in St. Marys, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at the UPMC Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh after a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 30, 1922 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Farrell Duffy. On Oct. 5, 1953 in the St. Leo’s Church in Ridgway, she married James F. Brunner, who preceded her in death on June 23, 2004.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Leo Magnus High School, Class of 1940. She also graduated from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in Erie in 1948. She retired as a Registered Nurse from the Elk County General Hospital and had also worked at the Elk Haven Nursing Home.
Mrs. Brunner was a member of the St. Mary’s Church. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed bingo, embroidery, reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, game shows, and the Pittsburgh sports teams.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Costello and her husband Kevin of Cranberry Twp.; and two grandchildren, Brian Costello and Colleen Costello.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Rose Mary "Rosie" Brunner will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m.
