Officials react to Sheriff's dept. remarks

The Elk County Commissioners released a statement late Thursday morning in response to reports concerning an investigation into the county's Sheriff's department. The statement was signed by commissioners Jan Kemmer, June Sorg, and Dan Freeburg. It reads:
The Board of County Commissioners of Elk County offers the following responses to quotations appearing in the local newspaper accounts of a pending investigation of the Elk County Sheriff's Department:
1. There is an ongoing, independent investigation regarding the Sheriff's department, and the investigating entity has specifically requested that the Commissioners not comment publicly on the investigation.
