Middle schools celebrate eighth grade graduation

June 3, 2011

On Thursday evening, local eighth grade students celebrated the conclusion of their middle school education as their families and friends gathered during separate ceremonies. Approximately 155 St. Marys Area Middle School students participated in the annual matriculation ceremony held at St. Marys Area High School, where they were welcomed into the high school, presented with various awards and acknowledged for their efforts by teachers, fellow students and SMAMS Principal Jim Wortman. Across town, 67 St. Marys Catholic Middle School students celebrated their graduation during a Mass held at St. Mary's Church, followed by an awards ceremony. School principal Mary Agnes Marshall, along with fellow faculty and clergy from area parishes, presented students with scholarships, awards and recognitions. Photo by Amy Cherry.
