Meet the Dutch

September 1, 2012

St. Marys Area High School hosted its annual Meet the Dutch event on Wednesday evening at Dutch Country Stadium. Prior to the event, a balloon release was held in memory of sophomore Taylor Schutz, 15, who died earlier this month as a result of an ATV accident. Schutz was a member of the girls' volleyball team. Her younger sister, Ashlynn, was introduced with the team as their new ball girl. The Dutchmen Marching Band performed a piece from their upcoming halftime show, which was followed by performances from the junior high, junior varsity and varsity cheerleaders. Individual fall sports coaches positioned their teams at center field as they introduced each of their players to the crowd. The fall sports teams are girls' junior varsity and varsity volleyball, girls' and boys' soccer teams, girls' tennis team, cross country, boys' golf squad and junior high, junior varsity and varsity football. A bonfire followed the player introductions. Shown is the boys' soccer team. Photo by Amy Cherry.
