St. Marys takes on Keystone tonight at 7:30 p.m.
The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch basketball team advanced to the finals of the Keystone Tournament with a 73-55 victory over the Coudersport Lady Falcons Friday night.
St. Marys will meet Keystone tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the championship game. Keystone defeated DuBois Central by a 66-38 score. Coudersport and DuBois Central will meet tonight at 6 p.m. in the consolation game.
â€śTonight was a nice team effort. I liked the balanced scoring and defensive play,â€ť said St. Marys Coach Bob Swanson.
â€śKayla Hoohuli had a great night with 10 rebounds, 12 assists and nine steals to go along with her 32 points. Mandy Gerarge had three steals and five rebounds, Shelby Zomcik had eight rebounds and Kiana Hoohuli had seven blocked shots and five rebounds,â€ť he noted.
â€śOur second-half rebounding and great defense by Kayla Hoohuli, Mandy Gerarge, Shelby Zomcik, Kiana Hoohuli, Adair Gennocro and Jenna Anderson were keys to the win.â€ť
Kayla Hoohuli led the St. Marys offensive attack, with 32 points on 12 twos, one three and a five-for-six night from the foul line. Mandy Gerarge scored 14 points on seven field goals, while Adair Gennocro scored 11 points on one two and three threes.
Coudersport was led by Hannah Fink with 18 points on eight field goals and a two-for-two night from the foul line. Jenna Matzinger scored 10 points on three field goals and a four-for-four night from the foul line.
The Lady Dutch outscored the Lady Falcons 21-17 in the first eight minutes of play. Kayla Hoohuli led St. Marys with 10 points, while Fink had 12 points for Coudersport.
The second quarter found St. Marys outscoring Coudersport 15-11 to take a 36-28 halftime advantage. Hoohuli paced St. Marys with six points while Matzinger led Coudy with six points.
The third period of play found the Lady Dutch putting 21 points on their side of the scoreboard, while Coudersport scored 19 as St. Marys led 57-47 with eight minutes remaining. Hoohuli led St. Marys with eight while Tori Brown led Coudy with six.
In the final eight minutes of play, the Lady Dutch outscored the Lady Falcons 16-8 to win the game 73-55. Hoohuli led St. Marys with eight while Gerarge added six. Cowburn led Coudersport with three.
The Lady Dutch are now 3-0 on the season. They will take on the Keystone Lady Panthers tonight for the tournament title in a game scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
St. Marys returns to regular season play Monday when they play host to the Port Allegany Lady Gators in a non-league game. Junior varsity is set for 6 p.m. and varsity 7:30 p.m.

The St. Marys junior varsity lost a 43-31 contest to the Lady Falcons.
Coudersport took a 9-5 first-period lead, then outscored St. Marys 8-7 in the second period for a 17-12 halftime lead.
Coudersport outscored the Lady Dutch 12-8 in the third period and 14-11 in the fourth quarter to win 43-31.
