Lady Crusaders roll over Lady Wolverines 61-14

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader basketball team ran their Allegheny Mountain League North Division record to 5-1 with a 61-14 victory over the Sheffield Lady Wolverines last night at Sheffield.
The Lady Crusaders were able to outscore their hosts 35-6 in the first half and 26-8 in the second 16 minutes of play.
“I thought we ran the court well tonight,” said ECCHS coach Ken Pistner.
“Our shooting percentage from the field and the line continue to improve. We are continuing to improve with each game.”
The Lady Crusaders were led by Ellie Petrosky with 16 points on eight field goals and Abbi Petrosky with 15 points on five field goals and a five-for-six night from the foul line.
Sheffield was led by Ashley Davidson with six points.
The Lady Crusaders opened the contest by taking a 21-6 first-period lead.
Elk Catholic shut out the Lady Wolverines 14-0 in the second period as they took a 35-6 lead into the locker room at the half.
In the third period of play, the Lady Crusaders outscored the Lady Wolverines by a 14-4 margin to open a 49-10 lead with eight minutes remaining.
The Lady Crusaders outscored Sheffield 12-4 in the fourth quarter, making the final score 61-14 in favor of the Lady Crusaders.

Game notes
The Lady Crusaders are now 12-4 overall and 5-1 in the AML North Division. They are 2-2 in District 9 League play.

The Lady Crusaders return to action Wednesday when they travel to DuBois to take on the Lady Beavers of DuBois Area in a District 9 League game. Game time for junior varsity is 6 p.m., with the varsity game set for 7:30 p.m.

The Lady Crusader Grade School Appreciation Night will be held on Friday, when the Lady Crusaders take on the Punxsutawney Lady Chucks in a District 9 League game. Girls in grades 3 through 8 will be recognized by the Lady Crusaders during the junior varsity and varsity contests.
