Lady Crusaders, Ramettes to meet in tourney finals

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders will meet the Johnsonburg Ramettes tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the championship game of the ECCHS Girls’ Junior Varsity Basketball Tournament.
Elk Catholic reached the finals with a 31-8 win over Ridgway, while Johnsonburg defeated St. Marys Area 52-40.
ECCHS vs. Ridgway
The Lady Crusaders opened an 11-4 first-period lead over the Lady Elkers. The second period saw Elk outscore Ridgway 9-0 to take a 20-4 halftime lead.
In the third period, the Lady Crusaders shut out the Lady Elkers 7-0 to take a 27-4 lead with one period remaining. The fourth quarter saw both teams score four points in the final period, giving Elk Catholic the 31-8 victory.

Ridgway scoring: Christine Schauer 2, Ellen Toncich 2, Bri Stenta 2, Dani Shirey 2.
St. Marys vs. Johnsonburg
The Lady Dutch opened the contest by taking a 12-11 lead after the first quarter. Each team scored 11 second-period points, with St. Marys holding a slim 23-22 lead.
Johnsonburg outscored St. Marys 21-9 in the third period. In the fourth quarter, the Ramettes outscored the Lady Dutch by a 9-8 margin to win the game by a 52-40 score.

St. Marys scoring: Kali Quagliani 7, Abbey Cribbs 4, DeAnna Yost 4, Sloan Foster 4, Cassie Daniels 3, Becky Krieg 10, Jessie Donachy 8.
Tonight’s championship game will be played in the main gym, while the consolation game will be played in the auxiliary gym. Both games are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. starts.
