The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders advanced to the District 9-A semifinals with a 2-1 victory over the Brockway Lady Rovers Tuesday at Benzinger Park.
The game seemed to be a tale of two halves, as the Brockway girls kept the ball in the Elk Catholic half in the first 40 minutes while ECC kept the ball in the Brockway half during the second 40 minutes.
“We came out flat and never picked it up until about 15 minutes to go in the first half,” said ECCHS coach Don Fabiano.
“Brockway kept us back on our heels. We really struggled to climb the mountain, but we finally did and forged ahead in the second half,” he said.
