Joan M. "Joni" Thompson

Joan M. "Joni" Thompson, 67, of 109 Hemlock Ln., Kersey, died on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born June 28, 1946 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Sabatini Snyder.
On June 6, 1970 in Dagus Mines, she married Roger Thompson, who survives.
She had lived in the area all of her life and had been employed at Elk Regional Health Center as an LPN for more than 15 years. After surviving cancer in her 40s, she went back to school and received her degree as an LPN in 1993. She very much enjoyed being a nurse and caregiver. She also enjoyed animals, cooking, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband of more than 43 years, Roger Thompson, she is survived by three sons, Michael Thompson and his wife Crystal of Kersey, Eric Thompson and his wife Tracey of Kersey, and Jason Thompson of Kersey; a daughter, Jennifer Thompson of Brockway; five grandchildren, Harley, Cassandra, Vincent, Ethan and Sarah; a brother, Joseph Snyder Jr. and his wife Susan of Ridgway; and a sister, Patricia, Mrs. Tony Mancuso of St. Marys.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Scotty Thompson in 1972.
A Memorial Service for Joan M. "Joni" Thompson is being scheduled and will be announced at a later date.
There will be no visitation.
