Irene G. Covac

Irene G. Covac, 93, of 116 Poplar Rd. and a resident of Elk Haven, died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was born March 3, 1921 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Joseph and Franciska Wiesneski Mackoviak. On Aug. 10, 1940, in the Holy Rosary Church, she married Albert L. Covac, who preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 2011.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Holy Rosary School. Mrs. Covac was a member of the Queen of the World Church and enjoyed being with her family and spending time at her home.
She is survived by three daughters, Janice Haller and her husband William of Kersey, Judith Rippy and her husband Dennis of Murray, Utah, and Joan Cox and her husband Bruce of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; two sons, Joseph Covac and his wife Judy of St. Marys and Jeff Covac and his wife Mary Jo of St. Marys; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Margaret Zenenz, Nora Kushniark, Helen Myslinski, Mary Pivinski and Pauline Pavlock; and seven brothers, Michael, Sylvester, John, Joseph, Stanley, Andrew and Walter Mackoviak. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Irene G. Covac to be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, April 28 at noon with the Rev. Richard Allen, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Cemetery..
There will be no visitation.
