Gloria Katherine Donovan

Gloria Katherine Donovan, 87, of St. Marys, formerly of Ridgway and Smethport, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 in Elk Regional Health Center, St. Marys. 
She was born Sept. 22, 1926 in Shamokin, a daughter of Elvin W. and B. Katherine Wilson Long. On June 20, 1947, in Williamsport, she married James Edward Donovan who died Aug. 17, 1998.
Mrs. Donovan was a graduate of Williamsport High School and attended Lock Haven State Teacher’s College. She was employed as the food services director at the Ridgway High School for 20 years, retiring in 1988.
She had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Smethport, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Ridgway. Gloria loved to make people laugh and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by four daughters, Linda K. (Bill) Lake of Smethport, Cathy A. (Larry) Noga of Surprise, Ariz., Jenny L. DeVallance of Surprise, Ariz., and Molly M. (Tim) Geitner of St. Marys; one son, Mark J. Donovan of Williamsport; and 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. 
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Elvin W. Long Jr., during the Pacific Theater of World War II.
Public funeral services for Gloria Katherine Donovan will be held Saturday, Nov. 23 at 12 p.m. at the Hope Lutheran Church, Pine Street, Smethport, with the Rev. Tom Beam, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.
Visitation will be held privately with the family.
