Georgia Elizabeth (Smith) Sweeney

Georgia Elizabeth (Smith) Sweeney, 88, died Monday, May 20, 2013 after a short illness.
She was born July 1, 1924 to George and Theresa Smith in St. Marys.
She attended the local Catholic School and graduated in 1930.
She spent her life raising five children and worked for a few years as a nurse’s aide at the St. Marys Hospital. She and her husband, Gene moved to Dutch Flat, Calif. in 1984 and moved to Colorado in 2000 to be near their daughter, Edie.
On February 5, 1946 she married Eugene W. Sweeney of Johnsonburg, in the St. Mary's Catholic Church. They were married for 65 years until Gene’s death in 2011.
Surviving are her five children, Thomas of Geneva, Fla., Christine Wattson of Newport Beach, Calif., Terese (Terry) of Pearland, Texas, Edith (Edie) McNerney of Lakewood, Colo., and Attorney Beth Kuttler of Costa Mesa, Calif. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Hook of Walnut Creek, Calif., and by 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark and Roger; and one sister, Rachel.
Georgia and Gene’s cremains will be buried in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in September of this year.
