Francesca Salerno

Francesca Salerno, 92, of 203 Clarion Rd., Johnsonburg, died Wednesday night, June 11, 2014 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a year-long illness.
She was born Nov. 17, 1921 in Nicosea, Sicily, daughter of Frank and Maria Camerano Costanzo. On Sept. 14, 1955, she married Anthony Salerno, who preceded her in death on March 30, 2005.
She resided in Johnsonburg from the time of her marriage. She attended school in Sicily. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Church and enjoyed spending time at home with her family.
She was employed at IPM for several years and also was a homemaker and seamstress.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph Salerno and his wife Cindy of Kane, and Robert Salerno and his wife Mary of Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter, Anna Taylor of St. Marys; a daughter-in-law, Patty Salerno of Bel Air, Md.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Frank Salerno; brothers Antonio, Santo and Guiseppe Costanzo; and sisters Mary Costanzo and Josephine Gaetano.
A funeral service for Francesca Salerno will be conducted at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, Pa., on Saturday, June 14 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Philip Pinczewski, pastor of St. Callistus Parish, Kane, Pa., officiating.
