Fire at Domtar paper mill in Johnsonburg

Photo submitted by Riley Fannin Six fire departments from the surrounding area responded Friday afternoon to a fire at the Domtar paper mill in Johnsonburg. An additional four departments were called to relieve firefighters who had been battling the ongoing fire as of Friday evening.

JOHNSONBURG – A large fire broke out early Friday afternoon in a tunnel beneath the chip yard at Domtar paper mill in Johnsonburg. As of press time Friday night, the fire was still burning.
According to Craig Timm, a media relations representative for Domtar, the fire broke out in the wood chip conveyor system.
