BENEZETTE – Nice weather on Saturday made for a good time for hundreds of individuals who descended upon the Elk Country Visitor Center in Benezette for the revival of the Pa. Great Outdoors Elk Expo after a hiatus of several years.
Previously held at the Elk County Fairgrounds in Fox Township, the decision was made to not only bring back the event but to hold it in Benezette in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the reintroduction of elk in Pennsylvania. Activities officially got underway at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning, but Elk Country Visitor Center Operations Manager Carla Wehler remarked that visitors had been arriving since the center opened their gates for the day at 8 a.m.
