The Elk County Catholic Crusaders junior high squad defeated the Ridgway Elkers by a 42 to 25 score to capture first place in the Elk County Catholic Junior High Holiday Tournament held at the gyms at Elk Catholic.
The Brockway Rovers finished in third place, defeating the St. Marys Area Flying Dutch junior high team by a 43-16 score in the consolation game.
ECCHS vs. Ridgway
Elk Catholic was in control of the game against the Elkers from start to finish, outscoring the Ridgway boys in every quarter.
Elk Catholic took a 7-0 first quarter-lead as they were led by Vincent Jacob with five points and Cory Huff with two points.
The second quarter found the Crusaders outscoring the Elkers by a 12-7 margin to take a 19-7 halftime lead. The 12 ECCHS points were scored by Ivan Wortman, Andrew Gebauer, Cory Huff, Colton Lecker, Matt Jerko and Taylor Feronti (two each), while the Elkers were led by Josh Roselli with three points, and Joe Hurning and Mason Stark with two each.
The Ridgway squad picked up 12 third-quarter points, but Elk Catholic managed 13 to push their lead to 32-19. Ben MacDonald had five points for the Elkers, while Joe Horning had three, and Joe Roselli and Mason Stark two each.
The Crusaders took the final period by a 10-6 margin to win the game by a 42-25 score. Wortman, Gebauer, Jacob, Jerko and Feronti each scored two points for the Crusaders, while Horning had three, Lineberger two and Jacob Klawhuhn one for Ridgway.

Brockway vs. St. Marys
The Brockway Rovers finished third in the tournament, defeating St. Marys Area 43-16 in the preliminary game.
Brockway took a 12-4 first-quarter lead, as Cody Jose had six points and Luke Bish, Dausen Crawford and Aaron Barraclaugh two each, while Lovenduski had four for the Dutch.
Brockway pushed their lead to 23-10 at the half as they outscored the Dutch 11-6 in the second period. Burns scored four and Gleixner two to lead the Dutch, while Brett Carr and Luke Bish had three each, Jason Faulk and Cody Jose two each, and Brandon Morris one for the Rovers.
Both clubs scored six third-quarter points to make the score 29-16 Brockway going into the final period. Lovenduski, Burns and DeMonte each scored two points for the Dutch, while Jose, Bish and Crawford each had two for Brockway.
Brockway took the final period 14-0 to win the game 43-16.
