Edna M. Pfeufer, 90, of 104 W. Theresia Rd., St. Marys, died on Thursday morning, Oct. 14, 2010 at Pinecrest Manor following a short illness.
She was born Oct. 12, 1920 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Frank and Clara Zwack Friedl.
On July 18, 1942 in St. Mary's Church, she married the late Joseph B. Pfeufer, who preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1987.
Mrs. Pfeufer was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys schools. She worked for a short time at Speer Carbon years ago. She was a homemaker who loved to cook, bake and spend time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed going for rides on a Sunday afternoon with her brother Dick. She lived her entire life at Zwack's Pond, making her home with her family, her brothers and her son. Together with her husband, they maintained the picnic grounds at Zwack's Grove. She loved the holidays and especially enjoyed the holiday parties. She also recently celebrated her 90th birthday with her family by her side for the celebration.
She is survived by a son, Andrew Pfeufer of St. Marys; three daughters, Ruth Kosmiski of St. Marys, Jane, Mrs. Robert Bennett of St. Marys and Joanne, Mrs. Michael Condon of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Troy (Angie) Bennett, David (Kaye) Bennett, Jason (Keli) Kosmiski, Lynn (James) Floravit, Ian Condon, Devin (Jessica) Condon and Breanne Condon; three great-grandchildren, Rachael, Emma and Maddox; two step-great-grandchildren, Michaela and Courtney; two brothers, Francis Friedl of St. Marys and Richard "Dick" Friedl of St. Marys; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband of 45 years, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas "Peeper" Friedl and Gerard "Jerry" Friedl; and by a son-in-law, Daniel Kosmiski.
A Mass of Christian Burial for the late Edna M. Pfeufer will be celebrated at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Church Street, St. Marys on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Meinrad Lawson, O.S.B., as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 N. Michael St., on Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
