The third annual Race for Education, a fundraising event under the direction of the Elk County Catholic School System PTO, is currently underway. This year's goal is $30,000 and the endeavor will conclude with an hour-long walk for students and supporters on Friday, May 9. All of the funds raised this year will be put toward educational programs and the purchase of classroom resources.
In addition to being a fundraiser, the project has also proved to be a learning experience for students at all levels of the school system, according to ECCHS Campus Minister Fr. Ross Miceli.
Students supplied contact information for family and friends and filled out letters that are being sent to them as part of the fundraiser. They also helped prepare those letters for mailing.
