ECCHS AP Chemistry students take part in symposium

After her AP Chemistry students began working on research projects last fall, Elk County Catholic High School AP Chemistry instructor Dr. Shawn Millinder realized that their topics would make great poster titles. She decided to hold a symposium and invited a number of individuals from area businesses and organizations who might be interested, and gave the students the option of presenting their research or having a poster on display.
"Symposium means meeting. It's just a meeting," Millinder explained. "It's an opportunity for the students to just show what types of things they're doing in their classes to get feedback from people in the community. Then, by interacting with them, they learn presentation skills that they normally don't have access to in the classroom."
