Driver in 6-fatality wreck in jail

December 19, 2013

"It was time."
This terse comment from Kane District Court Judge David Engman came Wednesday after his action that transfers Kathleen S. Douglas to the McKean County Jail.
Douglas, 37, of Kane is charged with manslaughter as an alleged drug-influenced driver in a horrific six-fatality traffic accident Aug. 31 near Lantz Corners.
Douglas, who sustained serious injuries in the Labor Day weekend crash, has been a resident at the Lutheran Home at Kane since October. Because of her physical condition, her bail was set at $750,000 (unsecured) to allow her to remain at the nursing home to receive medical treatment.
