Curwensville, Port Allegany win Class A football playoff games

The Curwensville Golden Tide will meet the Port Allegany Gators for the District 9 Class A football championship either this Friday or Saturday at a site and time to be announced.Curwensville handed the Cameron County Raiders a 22-13 loss Saturday evening in the second game of a doubleheader played at Brockway.In the first game, Port Allegany eliminated the Redbank Valley Bulldogs by a 24-17 score.After a scoreless first quarter, Curwensville outscored the Raiders by a 15-13 margin in the second period of play.Neither team scored in the third period, with the Golden Tide adding seven more points in the fourth quarter to win the game 22-13.Redbank Valley took the early 7-0 lead over the Gators in the first quarter of their Saturday afternoon contest. The Bulldogs outscored the Gators 10-7 in the second quarter to take a 17-7 lead at the half.Port Allegany shut out the Bulldogs 17-0 in the second half to win the game 24-17.
