Crusaders come up short in state title bid

June 14, 2014

Photo by Becky Polaski Crusader Ivan Wortman, 25, dives back to first base ahead of the tag of Devon Prep first baseman Sean Phelan in the top of the third inning. Wortman reached base after being hit by a pitch and went on to score ECC's lone run on a single by Jonathan Dippold.

One step made all the difference in the Elk County Catholic Crusaders winning the PIAA Class A Baseball Championship 2-1 in regulation and losing it 2-1 to Devon Prep in extra innings.
