With the potential of a Marcellus Shale drilling well site in St. Marys' future, City Council members explored an active Elk County well site owned by Seneca Resources, Corp. on Thursday evening.
As part of the tour city officials took in live drilling rig operations, active pipeline construction and viewed a reclaimed well site from five years ago.
Plans are moving along for Seneca Resources' $10 million seismic testing plan in St. Marys with well plans yet to be determined.
The Clermont Pad D well site, located along Billy Buck Road in Jones Township, is situated near the border of Elk, Cameron and McKean counties. The Allegheny National Forest, Elk State Forest and private property encompass the nearly seven-acre site.
