Cecelia F. Spowal, age 74, of 5298 Ridgway-Johnsonburg Rd., Johnsonburg, died Friday afternoon, Sept. 20, 2013 at her residence following a short illness.
She was born on May 30, 1939 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Addeo Marrone.
She Joseph F. Spowal Sr. on Nov. 21, 1970 in Johnsonburg. He died May 22, 2012.
She resided in Johnsonburg all her life.
She graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1957 and then graduated from Ora Jean Beauty School in Erie.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Holy Rosary Funeral Luncheon Committee, and Johnsonburg Senior Center. She was a loving and hospitable person and whomever she touched was enriched by her generosity, love and sense of humor.
She was a self-employed beautician for many years before retiring in 1999. She had also worked at Stackpole Carbon, Co., Sheetz, BiLo, Station Inn, Shop and Save, the Dam Inn, and she had been a cook at the Elk County Jail and St. Leo's Rectory.
She is survived by one son, Joseph F. Spowal Jr. and his wife Tyna of Johnsonburg; three sisters, Patricia "Patty" Bloam of Johnsonburg, Nardina, Mrs. George Pontious of Johnsonburg, Gloria, Mrs. Richard Hoyt of Johnsonburg; and one son, Edward "Pepe" Marrone and his wife Karen of Spirit Lake, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She was predeceased by her parents and husband.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Cecelia F. Spowal will be conducted at Holy Rosary Church on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 at 10 a.m.
Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, Pastor. Interment will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
