Burch D. Challingsworth

Burch D. Challingsworth, 69, of Conneaut Lake, died at home surrounded by his family on Monday, August 19, 2013.
He was born in DuBois on June 30, 1944, a son of the late Harvey and Zerda Marie Burch Challingsworth. 
He married Ruth I. Gardner on August 17, 1963 and she survives.
He graduated from Bennetts Valley High School in Weedville and the State Police Academy. He was a State Trooper with the Pa. State Police for 25 years, retiring in 1995. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church and enjoyed golf, woodworking, traveling, boating on Conneaut Lake, and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Ruth of 50 years, he is survived by four sons, Dave Challingsworth and his wife Elizabeth of South Fayette, Thomas Challingsworth and his wife Dawn of Conneaut Lake, Daniel Challingsworth of Conneaut Lake, and Timothy Challingsworth and his wife Kara of Cranberry Twp.; three brothers, Ralph Challingsworth and his wife Nancy of Kersey, Glen Challingsworth and his wife Connie of St. Marys, and Vaughn Challingsworth and his wife Diane of Sanford, N.C.; and eight grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary, Morgan, Alex, Nicklaus, Luke, Jake and Payton Challingsworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service for Burch D. Challingsworth will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 240 N. Third Street, Conneaut Lake with the Rev. Jay Sterling, Pastor, officiating.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6:30-9 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Road, Meadville, PA 16335; Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335; or Lakeland Area Hospice, 2221 Peninsula Drive, Erie, PA 16506.
