Bennett fans 12 as Dutch rally over Rams

May 2, 2014

Photo by Becky Polaski Caleb Bennett, 12, went the distance for the Dutchmen on Friday against Johnsonburg, allowing two hits, walking two, and striking out 12.

Much of Friday's Elk County Tournament opening round matchup between the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen and Johnsonburg Rams was an offensive struggle as the game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning as the Rams were able to push through their lone run. It seemed like that might be the only score of the day as both teams continued to strand base runners, but then the Dutchmen put together an impressive rally in the top of the seventh, coming from behind to win 3-1.
