Alvin E. Shutters Jr.

Alvin E. Shutters Jr., 52, of Caledonia Road, Weedville, died early Tuesday morning, Aug. 20, 2013, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was born May 18, 1961 in Ridgway, son of the late Alvin E. Shutters Sr. and Freda Alice (Thacher) Shutters, who survives.
In 1979, he married Carrie (Aul) Shutters, who survives.
He lived most of his life in Bennetts Valley. He was a graduate of St. Marys High School and attended Penn State University.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1983-1987.
He was a pipefitter working with numerous companies. He was an active member of the Patriot Guard Riders, a member of the Bennetts Valley Legion Post 978 and the “2 Bees and a C” Beekeepers, and a past active member of the Letters From Home program
In addition to his mother, Freda Alice (Thacher) Shutters of Weedville and his wife, Carrie (Aul) Shutters of Weedville, he is survived by two children, Kenneth (Irene) Shutters of Pittsburgh and Amanda Shutters and her fiance Eric Lattin of Tacoma, Wash.; a brother, Marvin (Linda) Shutters of Dayton, Wash.; and a sister, Karen (Chris) Launer of Eagle River, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral Services for Alvin E. Shutters Jr. will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield with the Reverend Brian Aul officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Bennetts Valley Legion Post 978 Burial Detail.
Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Weedville.
Visitation will be held at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield on Thursday, Aug. 22, from 6-9 p.m. and on Friday, Aug. 23 from 9-11 a.m.
The family suggests memorials to the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR-PA), 789 Washington Pike, Avella, Pa. 15312.
