Elk's Minard and Huff place second in D9-AA doubles tourney

The Brockway duo of James Matson and Aaron Barraclough captured the District 9-AA Tennis Doubles championship played Monday at the DuBois Area courts.
The Brockway tandem defeated Elk Catholic's Austin Minard and Cory Huff 6-3, 6-0 in the finals to claim the crown.

Crusaders fend off Raiders for 14-7 senior night victory

he Elk County Catholic Crusaders were up 11-0 headed into the fifth inning, but some changes to the Crusaders' defense provided the opportunity for the Brookville Raiders to attempt to rally as they also took advantage of a few miscues to close the deficit to 11-6. Elk Catholic regrouped with a few more changes and was able to hold off Brookville for a 14-7 victory to remain unbeaten.

Central Mountain gets by Lady Dutch 3-1

The St. Marys Area Lady Dutch softball team saw a six-game winning streak come to an end Friday afternoon as they lost a 3-1 contest to the Central Mountain Wildcats at the SMAHS softball field.

Dutchmen, Ramettes win Elk County Meet titles

The Johnsonburg girls track and field team and St. Marys boys track and field team won team championships at the Elk County Track and Field Meet held Thursday afternoon at Johnsonburg Area High School.
The Johnsonburg girls won the county meet team championship for the first time in head coach Rene Wenner's six-year tenure. Johnsonburg finished with 79.5 team points while Elk County Catholic was second at 67.5 team points. St. Marys was third at 42 points.

Crusaders win back-to-back matches over Bradford, St. Marys

It has been a busy week for the Elk County Catholic Crusader tennis team, and the squad added another pair of victories on Thursday as they hosted Bradford and St. Marys Area in back-to-back matches at Benzinger and Memorial Parks. ECC beat Bradford 7-2 and St. Marys Area 8-1.

ECC's Alan Brennen captures D9-AA singles tennis title

It took almost two and a half hours, but Alan Brennen of Elk County Catholic captured the District 9 Class AA singles tennis championship by defeating his teammate Drew Meyer in three sets.
Meyer won the first set by a 6-4 score. Brennen came back to knot the match at one-all by winning the second set 6-3. The two battled in the third set with Brennen coming out on top by a 7-5 score.

Lady Dutch edge Lady Crusaders 3-2 in 8 innings for tournament title

It may have taken a few days longer than originally scheduled, but the St. Marys Area Lady Dutch and Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders finally faced off in the championship game of the Elk County Softball Tournament on Tuesday afternoon at the SMAHS softball field. It was certainly worth the wait too as both teams put in a good showing and needed to go to extra innings before the Lady Dutch walked off for a 3-2 victory in the bottom of the eighth.

The Elk County Catholic Crusader baseball team captured the 2014 Elk County Baseball Tournament crown by defeating the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchman by an 11-2 score in the championship game Saturday afternoon at Berwind Park.
