Gary L. Salter

Gary L. Salter, 61, of 255 Plum Rd., St. Marys, died on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014 at Penn Highlands Elk following a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 19, 1953, a son the late LeRoy and Mona Rung Salter.
On August 30, 2002 in Huntley, Pa., he married Virginia Johnson Sweeney Salter, who survives.
He was a graduate of Cameron County High School.

Antoinette (Toni) Kelso

Antoinette (Toni) Kelso, 59, of Brookville, died on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014 at her home.
She was born in St. Marys on February 2, 1955, a daughter of the late James and Grace (Haberberger) Gleixner.
On November 8, 1975, she married her soul mate Al Kelso. He survives.

Edwin P. “Kat” Polaski Sr.

Edwin P. “Kat” Polaski Sr., 92, of Bergen Street, Johnsonburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014 at Pinecrest Manor after a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 6, 1922 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Peter and Stella (Machcoviak) Polaski.
On Oct. 25, 1952, he married Dorothy Carnahan, who preceded him in death June 20, 1979.
He served in the Army during WWII and worked at the Johnsonburg Paper Mill for 47 years.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and lived all his life in Johnsonburg.

Robert Gardner

Robert Gardner, 95, a lifelong resident of Ridgway, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 after a brief illness.
He was born July 11, 1919, in Ridgway, son of the late Elmer and Susie (Wilson) Gardner.
He was married to Genevieve M. Assalone on Feb. 10, 1945 at St. Leo's Church. His only daughter, Kathleen Gardner, survives.

Ruth Lilian “Peg” Stimson Fritz

Ruth Lilian “Peg” Stimson Fritz, 91, of 185 Center St., Elk Towers, and formerly of 172 Queens Rd., St. Marys, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at the Elk Haven Nursing Home.
She was born Nov. 22, 1922 in Abberley, near Worcester, England, daughter of the late Tom Thacker Stimson and Lilian Cripps Stimson.
On June 27, 1944 in the St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, Worcester, England, she married Jerome J. Fritz of St. Marys, who preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1994.

Phyllis Jean Gausman

Phyllis Jean Gausman, 81, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at her home at Benzinger Road following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. 
Phyllis Jean was born May 13, 1933 at home in Klondyke, a daughter of the late Vern and Ruth (Senior) VanOrder.
Due to her father’s several re-assignments as a game protector, Phyllis attended four different grade schools, including the experience of a one-room schoolhouse, before arriving at the stability of the Wilcox High School where she graduated in 1951 as the valedictorian of her class.

Maxine H. Fink, 85, formerly of Elk Avenue, Ridgway, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 at Pinecrest Manor following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 31, 1929 in Mill Hall, daughter of the late Charles and Trenna Bridges Bowman.
She was married to John E. Fink who preceded her in death Jan. 16, 1994.
She enjoyed reading.

Judy A. Thorwart

Judy A. Thorwart, 74, of 335 Main St., Kersey, died at her home on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014 surrounded by her family following a short illness.
She was born Oct. 11, 1939, a daughter of the late Daniel and Edith Newquist Corbe.
On May 6, 1961 in St. Boniface Church, she married Lee Thorwart, who survives.

Theresa M. Naugle

Theresa M. Naugle, 84, of Lockport, N.Y., died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 under the care of Niagara Hospice.
She was born Oct. 11, 1929 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Thomas D. and Mary Rose DiLullo Asalone who lived in Weedville.
She was married to Robert T. Naugle who preceded her in death Feb. 27, 2011.
Theresa worked at Harrison Radiator for 20 years, retiring in 1987, and then worked at Bon-Ton in Lockport for 10 years. She enjoyed doing crafts.
