Eleanore M. Prokop, 91, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 421 Center St., died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015 at Elk Haven after a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 19, 1923 in Johnstown, N.Y., daughter of the late John and Mary Palkovic Solar.
On Nov. 3, 1945 in Johnstown, N.Y., she married Martin Prokop Jr. who preceded her in death Oct. 6, 1991.
She was a graduate of Johnstown High School in New York and had resided in St. Marys since 1956. She was a retired employee of St. Marys Carbon and was a former hairdresser.
Verna R. Kondek, 92, a resident at Elk Haven in St. Marys, formerly of Emporium, diedÂ Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015 at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center in Erie after a short illness.
She was born June 4, 1922 at Toby Valley, a daughter of the late Eric Sr. and Charlotte (Lottie)Â McCool Gustafson. She was married to Gale Chapin Sr. who was killed in action in World War II. SheÂ later married Edward Kondek who died in 1971.
Kathryn M. Longhi, 88, of St. Marys and formerly of Kersey, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 after a brief stay at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
Born July 15, 1926 in St. Marys, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary DiLullo Assalone of Weedville. On Oct. 29, 1949, in the St. Josephâ€™s Church in Force, she married Angelo H. â€śBearâ€ť Longhi, who preceded her in death Oct. 16, 2007.
Sophie DeChano, 90, of 515 Cherry Ave., Ridgway, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 at home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born Dec. 9, 1924 in Rasselas, daughter of the late Josef and Lottie Rose Cebulski Szymanski. She attended school in Instanter. She married Paul D. DeChano who preceded her in death Oct. 17, 1994. Mrs. DeChano was a Ridgway resident for 63 years. She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and Ridgway C.D. of A.
Daniel H. Denio, 61, of Henderson, Nev. died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015 at his home following a short illness.
He was born May 21, 1953 in St. Marys, son of Lynn and Marion (Shadd) Denio, who survive.
Geraldine Helen Willow, 94, of Rose Street, Johnsonburg, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 13, 1920 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Frederic Marshall and Clara Bell (Zwald) Enterline.
On Sept. 16, 1939 in Ridgway, she married Chester LeRoy Willow. He preceded her in death March 12, 2003.
She was a graduate of Ridgway Area High School Class of 1939 and was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Johnâ€™s Lutheran Church of Johnsonburg, a lifetime member of Central Hose Company Auxiliary and a â€śWorthy Matronâ€ť of the Order of Eastern Star.
Nancy A. (McCafferty) Russell of Byrnedale,died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015 after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late William A. Russell who preceded her in death in 2009.
She was the mother of Nancy Marton and her husband Roger, William Russell and his wife Margaret, and Sara â€śSallyâ€ť Wittman and her late husband Jerry, a beloved son-in-law who died earlier this year.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren who adored her, as well as a sister, Virginia Siverling.
A private service for Nancy A. (McCafferty) Russell will be held for the family.
Patricia A. Pappas, 93, a resident of Pinecrest Manor, and formerly of 315 Washington St., St. Marys, died on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at Pinecrest Manor.
She was born Feb. 22, 1921, a daughter of the late Frederick and Anita Stebich Goodrow.
On June 19, 2002 in Sacred Heart Church, she married John F. Pappas, who preceded her in death Feb. 27, 2006.
Alvera Dezanet, 101, of Caledonia, and recently of Silver Creek Terrace and Elk Haven Nursing Home, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015 at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 4, 1913 in Byrnedale, daughter of the late Angelo and Giovanna (Trojan) Dezanet.
She worked at Sylvania of Emporium for 47 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1975. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Force.
Joseph W. DeLullo Sr., 66 of Terra Cotta Road, Johnsonburg, died early Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at Penn Highlands Elk after an illness of 10 years.
He was born May 4, 1948 in St. Marys, son of the late Joseph P. and Erma (Matthews) DeLullo.
He married Josephine (Tomaski) on May 27, 1971.
Mr. DeLullo was a graduate of St. Marys High School. He served in Vietnam with the U.S. Marines from 1966-1969. He worked as a die-setter for Metaldyne for 27 years retiring in 2005.
