Carol L. Hahn, 96, of 185 Center St., Elk Towers, St. Marys and formerly of Hollywood, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at Penn Highlands Elk after a brief illness.
She was born Dec. 25, 1917 in Bradford, daughter of the late George and Bertha (Paul) Courtright. She had been a resident of St. Marys the past seven years and attended Bradford Area Schools. She was a former employee of Zippo in Bradford, Sylvania in Emporium, and Stackpole Carbon in St. Marys.
On Feb. 12, 1948 in Olean, N.Y., she married Raymond M. Hahn, who preceded her in death in 1983.
Louis J. "Poncho" Cherry, 90, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys, died early Sunday morning, Oct. 19, 2014 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
He was born Nov. 26, 1923 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Thomas Cherry and Rose Grenci Borello Cherry.
On July 27, 1963 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, he married Ruth A. Calla. She died Aug. 27, 1997.
He resided in Johnsonburg all his life and was a 1942 Johnsonburg High School graduate.
Anthony Michael Sette, 84, of 22 Elk Ave., Ridgway, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2014 at Penn Highlands Elk.
He was born April 9, 1930 in Ridgway, son of Mike and Amelia Spizziri Sette. He recently returned to Ridgway from Detroit, Mich., where he had lived and worked for Ford Motors. He served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed going to casinos and betting on horses.
He is survived by a sister, Frances Pizzini of Dearborn, Mich.; and by several nieces and nephews.
Charles J. Donachy, 88, of 136 Wendel Rd., St. Marys, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014 at Penn Highlands DuBois after an illness of the past month.
He was born April 3, 1926 in St. Marys, son of the late Charles Everett and Leona Kreckel Donachy.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Public Schools. He retired from Stackpole Carbon Company in 1987 with almost 40 years of service. After his retirement, he delivered products for Printing Plus.
On Aug. 23, 1947 in the Sacred Heart Church, he married Catherine A. Oâ€™Connor, who survives.
Cathy L. Bauer, 64, of 117 Flagstone Rd., St. Marys, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, at her home.
She was born Aug. 8, 1950 in Ridgway, daughter of the late Richard and Emmaline Tead Brush. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Ridgway High School.
She was married to John Bauer, who preceded her in death.
Dorothy Ruth Kahl, 92, of Monongahela, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014 in Nevaeh Cove Personal Care Home, Charleroi, after a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 3, 1922 in Monongahela, she was the daughter of the late David and Marie (Meyer) Broadhead.
OnÂ May 28, 1942, she married William D. Kahl who preceded her in death July 9, 1983.
Shirley Marie (Schloder) Snyder, 76, of McClure, Ohio, died peacefully Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 at St. Vincent Medical Center.Â
Shirley was born July 11, 1938 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Arthur L. and Mary A. (Jeselnick) Schloder.Â
Shirley was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, St. Augustine Catholic Church, and graduated from Central Catholic High School.Â
Carol Ann Burris, 77, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at Hamilton Hospital in Olney, Texas.
Carol was born Nov. 19, 1936 in Kosciusco County, Ind. to the late Harvey and Laura (Stump) DeFrees, Sr.
On Nov. 23, 1955 in Nappanee, Ind., she married Norman Burris. He preceded her in death June 23, 1991.
James S. Dworsky, 89, of 522 Penn St., Johnsonburg, died Monday afternoon, Oct. 13, 2014 at Elk Haven Nursing Home in St. Marys following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 1, 1925 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Stephen and Violet Yeager Dworsky.
On May 5, 1962, he married Dolores Popielski in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, and she survives
Dennis C. Mertz, 55, of 558 Brusselles St., St. Marys, died unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014 at his home.
He was born Sept. 30, 1959, a son of the late Walter Mertz and Anna Mae Wilson Mertz, who survives, of St. Marys.
On March 14, 1987 in Queen of the World Church, he married Lynn Mosier Mertz, who survives.
Denny was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1977.Â He worked at Keystone for more than 26 years and had been employed at Morgan AM & T for the past several years. He was an avid golfer and bowler and also greatly enjoyed sports.
