Marigold S. Nelson, 68, of 102 Center St., Ridgway, died Sunday, June 2, 2013, at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 10, 1945, in Concord, New Hampshire, the daughter of Harry and Shirley Woodworth Brown.
On July 1, 1967, she married John Nelson, he survives.
St. Marys City Council approved bids for an Erie Avenue demolition project and a George Street rehabilitation project during their Monday evening meeting. Both projects are being funded through the city's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) allocation.
ST. MARYS – On Sunday, family and friends gathered at the St. Marys home of seven-year-old Matthew Sharrow, as he and his siblings took to the water in their new above ground swimming pool. While seemingly a commonplace occurrence, the inaugural swim held an added significance for the family. Matthew was born with Spina Bifida, a birth abnormality in which the spinal cord is malformed and lacks its usual protective skeletal and soft tissue coverings.

RIDGWAY - A Johnsonburg man, Jonathan A. Schmitz, 19, of 19 Powers Ave., pleaded guilty in Elk County Court Friday to his part in the sexual assault of two teenage girls, allegedly picked up outside a St. Marys slumber party and forced to perform sexual acts with him and two other men. He was sentenced to serve four to 24 months incarcerated at Elk County Prison.
Charges of statutory sexual assault and indecent assault against Schmitz were dropped as a result of the plea bargain he accepted Friday.
Departing final words to their fellow classmates of Friday evening were St. Marys Area High School Class of 2013 Valedictorian Alec Foster and Salutatorian Taylor Bellina.
There are three summer reading programs being held at the St. Marys Public Library this summer, with each being geared toward a different age group spanning from birth to age 18.

The Keystone Lady Panthers handed the Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader softball team a 5-2 setback in the District 9 Class A championship game Friday at the Brockway Area High School.
RIDGWAY – Accused murderer Nicholas Martin entered a plea of "not guilty" in Elk County Court Friday to homicide and related charges filed in connection with the March 23 stabbing death and disappearance of a Ridgway teen.
The St. Marys Area High School celebrated the Class of 2013 on Friday evening as part of the school's 117th annual commencement program.
Master of Ceremonies Alex Schreiber greeted his fellow graduates along with family, friends, and school administrators and school board members. Among the speakers of the evening were Valedictorian Alec Foster and Salutatorian Taylor Bellina.
