The St. Marys Area Flying Dutch basketball team evened their record at 3-3 with a 75-42 non-league victory over the Sheffield Wolverines Monday night at the Dutch Oven.
The Historical Society of St. Marys and Benzinger Township is dedicated to preserving anything and everything related to the community's history. As part of that mission, local historian Ray Beimel has been photographing one of the most important events in the society's history: its relocation into a new, permanent home.

Pennsylvania's elk herd draws thousands of visitors to the area each year, many of whom come bearing their cameras in hopes of leaving with photographs of the creatures to document their time in Elk Country. Now those who may not have had much luck getting their own photos can instead take home a new book featuring a variety of photos of the animals.
Area photographer Marci Geise recently released her second book, "Pennsylvania Elk," which she described as featuring the work of some of the best elk photographers on the east coast.
Joseph V. Urmann Jr., 92, of 409 Shelley Dr., Ridgway, died early Monday morning, Dec. 23, 2013, at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a brief illness.
He was born July 29, 1921 in Ridgway, son of the late Joseph V. and Ruth (McMackin) Urmann Sr.
He married Jean Adam on Aug. 28, 1946, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 2008.
He had resided in Ridgway all of his life and was a 1939 graduate of the Ridgway High School, and a 1943 graduate of St. Bonaventure.
Louis S. Morelli, 89, of 1223 Million Dollar Highway, Kersey, died on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at his home following a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 24, 1924 in Kersey, a son of the late Lino and Mary Tamburlin Morelli.
On June 21, 1947, he married the late Alice Wolack Morelli, who preceded him in death on July 1, 2007.
William A. Boderocco, 86, a resident at Highland View Health Care Center in Brockway, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013 at Highland View.
He was born Sept. 30, 1927 in DuBois, son of the late William B. and Jemima McMeekin Boderocco.
He was Presbyterian by faith, and was a member of the Sons of Italy Club in Brockway.
He had been employed at the Ink Plant in Ridgway prior to his retirement.
He is survived by a cousin, Teddy McMeekin of Hinton, W. Va., and is also survived by numerous second and third generation cousins.
The Elk County Holiday Basketball Tournament will undergo a number of exciting changes this year as it becomes the EQT Energy Classic Elk County Holiday Tournament; however, one important element of the annual event will be continuing in a modified capacity.
The Nicholas J. Sinibaldi Concert Band and Choir performed a Christmas Spectacular Concert in St. Marys Area High School's Carpin Auditorium on Sunday afternoon. The free concert was well attended, and donations collected at the door will benefit the Crystal Fire Department.
The band and choir are shown performing "Sleigh Ride" at the conclusion of the show.
Mary E. â€śJudyâ€ť Wissinger, 77, of 204 Fairview Rd., Kersey, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at the Elk Regional Health Center after a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 30, 1936 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Edward and Marie Vornbaum Gerg. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School. She was a retired employee of Powdered Metal Products, retiring in 1999 after 34 years of service.
